Today, Esther and her classmates dressed up as storybook characters. Esther chose to be Strawberry Shortcake, but that wasn't enough. She wanted everyone else in her family to be characters from the book as well, and she was the one to carefully pore over the book in each of our closets and choose the outfit that most closely approximated what the characters were wearing in the book. In the second picture you can see Strawberry with Apple Dumplin. Esther was pretty upset that she couldn't find any denim overalls in my closet because that's what Angel Cake was wearing, but she was able to find a turtle neck that was the correct stripe. So, even though it's supposed to be 70+ degrees today, I'm wearing a striped turtleneck. When I left the house, Huckleberry Pie (a.k.a. John) was all dressed up. He even had his blue baseball cap on backwards as he'd been instructed to do. Some parents may not be quite as cooperative with their children's crazy whims, but it was just so cute to see her planning it all out, and she so happy this morning to see us all dressed up.
